The Pulaski Day Parade this year and the Next
Posted by: Randolph Hernandez
Yesterday afternoon I attended the Pulaski Day Parade for the first time. I’m not a big fan of parades but this one had a lot of pride, passion, expression and very LOUD noises. It was pretty cool. I did t find any of the floats particularly interesting or special. The best part was actually just being around the different demographics that make up the Acive NYC Metro area population.
I saw a lot of families where the parents were middle aged and the kids in their teen and below. You had packs of Polish teens with sprinklings of non-poles yet I didn’t see poles who were in the 21-30 year old range. Maybe they were all out last night and couldn’t get up in time? I’m waiting for the G train and debating if I should eat at the polish national hall or perhaps Lomzynanka on Nassau and Manhattan is the spot for lunch. We’ll see. (I ended up at Lomzynanka, can’t beat the value)
Next year, Podejdz No Do Plota will have to have a float in the Parade! It would be awesome to have a ‘Sami Swoi’ themed float. Maybe some cool give-aways with the web site address on them.
